Best Weed to Date

cover art for "The Health Care Delimma" by J.H.U. BrownIn much of my employment history I have weeded parts or whole collections of libraries.  Each library has a unique criteria for culling, based mostly on what the library patrons need/use.

By far The Health Care Dilemma is the most cathartic item I have culled.  The cover alone betrays the book's age.  The contents equally reveal dated material.  In a library where allied health students need the most up to date information to be competitive in their field, Brown's book has aged beyond its usefulness to students.

However, while perusing the books contents I found one nugget about health care still relevant today, that "health care technology... is not planned.  It grows "like topsy" as a result of [the] whims of practitioners, advertising.... [etc]." (Brown 47).  Brown's idea still rings true today and the quote is worth noting before the book leaves the shelves.
